Biography

Born in Malaga, Spain, in 1969, Enrique grew up by the sea, hiking, sailing and reading. As a kid his favorite book was his dog-eared atlas, on it he would plan trips to remote and exotic locations.

Photography has been an integral part of Enrique's life since he was 14 and started doing his own b&w processing. Currently he is a member of the Photochrome Camera Club of San Francisco, NANPA and AEFONA and markets his work privately as well as through various image banks and photo libraries (see the 'contact' page for details). His images are published regularly in books, magazines and calendars as well as on Fotonatura where he collaborates writing short articles.

In the year 2000 Enrique began a project to document the wildlife of the coastal areas of the Atlantic Ocean, from Arctic Norway to the Antarctic Peninsula, from the Straits of Gibraltar to the Caribbean. Since then he has traveled to locations such as the Gulf of St lawrence in Canada to photograph harp seals and South Georgia in the Southern Atlantic to work with the wandering albatross.

In 2005, 2006 and 2007 various of his photos made it to the semifinals in the BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition. In 2008 he made it to the finals of both the BBC WPOY and Art Wolfe's ICP Awards.

Enrique lives in San Francisco.
